Swing City Dancers club hosts the San Francisco Bay Area’s most popular “mixed-swing” dance, drawing West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and Lindy Hop dancers to our home at the beautiful Community Health and Wellness Center on the Ocean Avenue Campus of City College of San Francisco. In order to appeal to all of these dancers, the focus of our dances may change from month to month.
Each club dance begins with an introductory lesson, so people who are new to swing dancing are always welcome. Some of our events feature dancing to live music. Swing City Dancers also promotes swing dancing at other venues by organizing field trips and impromptu gatherings. We also host swing dance workshops twice a year.
Swing City is organized and run by volunteers who enjoy getting to know other people in the local swing dance community. Club dances are open to everyone. It is not necessary to be a City College student or to bring a dance partner.
Swing City Dancers holds monthly meetings to plan our dances and special events. The club is eager to solicit participation from anyone interested in promoting swing dancing. By attending two consecutive meetings (and being a currently-enrolled student), you can become a voting member of Swing City. Benefits of being a voting member of Swing City include:
- Opportunity to volunteer for Swing City dances and get free admission.
- Opportunity to attend Swing City field trips for free.
- Periodic discounts on other dance events.
