The Reed Fromer Band is one of the Bay Area’s most dynamic and enjoyable
R&B bands featuring top-level musicians and powerful vocals. The group’s
repertoire consists of exciting, dance-able R&B/funk material and
beautiful, moving rock and soul ballads. Material is drawn from such
dependable sources as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, The
Isley Brothers, Chaka Kahn & Rufus, B.B. King, The Doobies, Earth Wind &
Fire, Jeffrey Osbourne and Maxwell.

Swing City Dancers meeting on Wednesday, October 5th will be at Wellness Center

The next Swing City Dancers meeting will be on Wednesday, October 5th. We’ll be switching it up again and meeting in a different place, the conference room on the ground floor of the Wellness Center on the Ocean Avenue campus of City College of San Francisco.

Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be food and good company for all.

At the meeting we’ll also be planning for our second event of the semester, an intermediate workshop taught by John Festa of New York. The workshop will be on Saturday, October 15th from 6-8 pm.

DJ dance party on Saturday, September 17th

The first Swing City Dancers event this semester is Saturday, September 17th (just a few days away.)  It will be a swing dance party DJ-ed by our own beloved DJ Steve.  He’ll be spinning his best West Coast, Lindy and East Coast tunes for us.

The evening begins at 7 pm with a beginning dance lesson (DJ Steve will also be teaching, assisted by Sally Van Loon).  Open dancing begins at 8 pm and ends at 11 pm.  Admission is $5.

The location is room 307 (aka the Technique Studio) in the Wellness Center on the Ocean Avenue Campus of City College of San Francisco.

SCD meeting on Wednesday/get your Boogie tix!

This month the Swing City Dancers meeting will be on Wednesday, September 7th. We’re switching it up a bit this month and meeting in a different place, 741 Natoma St. #1.  See the link below for a map:

Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be food and good company for all.

At the meeting Steve Rockwell will be selling Early Bird tickets for the Boogie by the Bay dance convention. Swing City Dancers is arranging to have a table during the convention and we still have seats left. You don’t have to be a voting member or even an enrolled student to join us, HOWEVER, if you are an enrolled student AND you become a voting member of the club, you can have half the cost of your Early Bird ticket reimbursed by the club. In order to become a voting member all you have to do is attend both the Wednesday, September 7th and Monday, October 3rd meetings. The Early Bird tickets are $130 ($65 after the reimbursement). At the meeting we’ll also be planning for our first event of the semester, a dance with music provided by our own Steve Cismowski. The dance will be on Saturday, September 17th. It begins with a lesson taught by Steve C. and Sally from 7-8 pm. Then open dancing goes from 8-11 pm. Admission will be $5.

Next club meeting on Wednesday, August 17th

The next Swing City Dancers meeting is Wednesday, August 17th.  This is our only meeting until September.  It will be at Morning Due Cafe at the corner of 17th and Church Streets.  We meet there at 6:30 pm.  We only meet once a month so this is your opportunity to hang out with some cool people and to guide the future of the club.  Voting members (those that attend the monthly meetings regularly) are eligible for cool discounts and private club events.
